Year in Review 2010 – Photos.

In Jan. I gave myself the gift of a new camera.

In Feb. daughter got her very first haircut.

It seems that we’ve made a valentine’s tradition. Two years in a row we went to the science museum.

And according to my photos.. we ate a lot of crab legs in Jan and Feb. 2010. Must have been a good couple months!

In March we spent a lot of time with this little guy.

We spent a lot of time outside. This was the start of that outside time. First really nice day although it was winter, daughter drawing on driveway with chalk. We also had a picnic outdoors this month, spent a lot of time at the playground.

In March I found out I have varicose veins on both my ovaries. At least I had an explanation to my issues I was having! Ugh!

In April we went to the Sculpture park/art park. Ate at a little cafe that had fantastic food too. Yum.

Easter!

I took a lot of nature photos in April.

And getting creative gave us a little hope.

In May she really enjoyed learning new things. We did “school work” everyday.

I joined a photo group and we went to Como to take photos. I need to do this more in 2011!

She wrote our names in May. I was so proud of her!

Spent my birthday with friends and family eating kabobs. I love grilled kabobs! Yum! My husband was let go from his job this day too. That sucked and happened to start the downfall of our year. Bah!

The day after my birthday and my husband was let go from his job… we got a flat tire. Yeah, luck was not on our side at all.

Celebrated grandpa’s birthday. Little did we know, it would be his last.

A new job for husband in June, and yet a job he left after a few months. Just didn’t pay off. He’s a body piercer. This shop just wasn’t a good fit.

We spent time with family and went to a cousins graduation party in June.

We celebrated this girls 4th birthday with her cousins.

She got a pool and we spent a lot of time in it.

In July we spent the 4th of July with family playing volley ball, eating good food, playing cards, and lighting off fireworks.

And the 4th of July is when daughter hit her head on a brick wall and cracked it open. : (  It has healed nicely though and won’t be noticeable as she grows.

In August I started a part time job and we made a fairy door.

We celebrated G’s birthday in Aug.

In Sept. we did a lot of kindness missions…..

In october I made many different things. Headbands. Barrettes. Skirts, Pillowcases, Ipod case etc.

Halloween!

Um, in Nov. I didn’t take any photos!?? Weird!

In Dec. Christmas party.

Christmas Day.

Cheers to 2010, I’m happy to have you gone for the most part. Here’s to 2011 and all the possibilities.

Have a Happy New Year!

I need a plan….

I’ve spent the day cleaning and thinking of all the things I want to do and accomplish in 2011. Let’s just say, I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed with all I’d like to do. I’m excited too, I have big plans for myself and hope this my most creative year yet! I have a lot to look forward to.  I do need a plan and a list. I haven’t made a list yet, still in the thinking process… already overwhelmed.  Part of my overwhelmed feeling is because I’m just so damn excited to get a move on some of my thoughts. So, hopefully this weekend my list will be complete and a plan can be made.

There’s a couple other things I wish I had right now at this moment. A quiet house and some chai tea.

.December.

There are many things I like and I dislike about December.

First my dislikes….

  • Cold weather. I really dislike being cold.
  • Financial holiday stress. Finding that perfect gift within budget. I have ideas of what I’d like to get and do for people around the holidays and even if it’s within reason it doesn’t seem to pan out. Part might be that I think about them at the last minute or in November every year.  Not enough time to pull off all that I’d like to. Maybe next year I can finally get this planned and organized.
  • Families pulling us in many directions. I come from a very big divorced family. My father has remarried to another big family. Everyone wants a piece of us the Sat. before Christmas. Why every year do they all host a party on the same day? There’s no way we can make it to all three parties that start around the same time.  So, we usually pick the one that has santa and gifts for kids because for us, christmas is about the kids. Although to be fair we should just trade off every year. Once in a while we make it to two parties in the same day.
  • Seasonal Depression. Not getting enough sunlight or Vit. D. Over extending myself, which results in a messy Jan. However, the last couple years I’ve been able to keep it under wraps and happy. Took a lot of practice through the years but so far it’s worked out well with a few adjustments to routine and noticing when it’s happening before it’s set in fully. I suppose this could be a good thing too.

Now my likes…..

  • Chai Tea. Hot Chai Tea tastes the best during cold weather. I love love love chai tea all year long but nothing compares to drinking it in cold weather. It’s my all time favorite winter drink.
  • Holiday decorating and christmas lights. I love decorating for holidays and I love love christmas lights at night while watching a movie or cuddling up with a good book.
  • Christmas shows. I dislike christmas music, but I love christmas shows. I especially love watching them with my kids.
  • Staying indoors. The one time of the year where it’s perfectly acceptable to not go out as much.
  • Giving gifts. Not matter how small or big, I enjoy giving gifts. Period. Not just during the holidays.
  • The kindness of others. It seems like I hear more about the goodwill of others around this time of year.
  • Baking and candy making. So much fun!

And my final favorite… Planning the new year. Having dreams and goals for it. The end of one year and the start of the year is always full of hope for a better year. I love that.  I will be posting a goal list soon. We’ll see how that goes.

What are your favorite things about December?
